Ed. note: According to Gardel
experts, there is no proof that Gardel ever made this film. The rumour
apparently started in the Argentine newspapers in the 1940's.
Di Chiara's opinion is not to be trusted. He for ex., claims to have a decomposed copy of Gardel film "La Casa es Seria". Apparently he obtanied it in the 1950's. The question then is why in these 50 years he never made an effort to copy and restore it? No-one has seen "La Casa es Seria" since the 50's.
Synopsis: This movie, according to Argentine film historian Roberto Di Chiara, in his book El cine mudo argentino, has been lost: "We can advance the hypothesis on the dissapearence of this tape as being caused by poor storage of the films during that era, adding to it the constant fires in the film libraries, which occurred due to combustion of silver nitrate used on the tapes. It might have been Gardel's own decision who, dissatisfied by the film, ordered it taken out of circulation." Cast: Luis Masseroni in his 1985 book: Gardel, su vida, su época, includes the following editorial: Year 1918: There is a new attraction which is the duet Gardel-Razzano with the accompaniment of José Ricardo's guitar, and especially Carlos Gardel, who is completing his second film, "La Loba". Year 1919: The duet Gardel-Razzano, after a series of great performances, has to take a mandatory short break, since Razzano has a throat operation due to an annoying aphony. Big scare! Gardel, finishes shooting of his second film, "La Loba".
